Located in the peaceful forest near the Hokkoda-san volcano, this traditional ryokan offers a unique experience for budget travellers. The rooms, although slightly worn-out, are clean and equipped with basic amenities like a TV and hot water pot. The highlight of the stay is the large mixed-gender onsen, with hot white-colored water that provides ultimate relaxation. The evening meal is fantastic, with a wide variety of Japanese delicacies. the ryokan offers a free shuttle to nearby attractions like Hakkoda Ropeway.
Limited front desk personal touch.

The traditional experience was very unique and authentic. The tatami room was a nice change from typical hotel rooms and provided a different sleeping experience. It was great to have the option of visiting two different onsen, especially the one with sulphurus water. The hotel's location was perfect for those interested in hiking and outdoor activities.
The lack of Wi-Fi signals in the room was inconvenient. The bathroom facilities were not as modern as expected;

Had a great time spending xmas in the mountains at this traditional Japanese-style hotel. The natural hot springs were amazing and definitely one of the best aspects of our stay. We particularly enjoyed the private, indoor baths that offered stunning mountain views. The location was perfect for hiking, with several established trails starting right from the hotel. We also appreciated the shuttle bus that took us to the train station for our departure.
The rooms were a bit outdated and worn, which was the worst aspect of our stay. The traditional meals were also a bit limited in selection, but still tasty.
